Natural History Classes
via Camp Joy Facebook
Once students arrive at Camp Joy, they are split into four "trail groups". The trail groups are considered a "class", where students will spend most of their time while exploring Joy's 315 acres. During the Joy experience, trail groups will focus on four different topics, three of which are the natural history subjects. These science-oriented natural history subjects are: Everchanging Earth, Wetland Ecology, and Garbology/Conservation. The Everchanging Earth class focuses on how the Earth is in a constant state of change, and evidence of this constant change is visible all over the Joy property. Wetland Ecology concentrates on the life inhabiting the ponds and creeks of Camp Joy, while also focusing on the water cycle, food chains, and adapation among other things. Finally, the Garbology/Conservation class emphasizes the importance of sustainability and recycling. While participating in these classes, students get the opportunity to spend time exploring the beautiful trails, creeks, and ponds of Joy, while experientially learning about Mother Nature.
